Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on May 12, 2015. There were 119 children present at arrival to the facility in eight classrooms with sixteen staff members. Additional staff members and volunteers were on site for administrative and support purposes. The children were observed having breakfast which consisted of yogurt, milk, graham crackers and fruit and snack which consisted of apples and milk. They were also participating in a variety of activities throughout the classrooms that included music and movement, doing hand washing and toothbrushing, one on one teacher directed activities and playing in centers. Four children's records were reviewed. Four medications were reviewed. The center is not using the playground at this time.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-D
Description: Based on observation and inspection of the facility, the center did not use fans or other cooling systems when the temperature of inside areas occupied by children exceeded 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Evidence: 1. During the inspection conducted on May 12, 2015, the temperature in Room 108 as indicated by the thermostat was 83 degrees and the classroom was occupied by children. 2. The temperature in Room 104 as indicated by the thermostat was 81 degrees and the classroom was occupied by children.

Plan of Correction: We have called maintenance and put in a work order. As a back up plan we will have fans available at the center.
