An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:40am-12:00pm. There were 61 children (infants-5yrs.) directly supervised by 12 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, 4 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, and emergency supplies were inspected. Children were observed playing outside, playing with puzzles, and eating lunch. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. The center was clean and organized. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-D-5 Description: Based on staff statement, there was not always at least one staff member on duty who had obtained instruction within the last three years in performing the daily health observation (DHO) of children . Evidence: Upon the Licensing Inspector requesting documentation of staff with current training in DHO, the director stated that there was no staff available with current training. Plan of Correction: I will schedule a training.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on direct observation, areas of the center were not maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: Peeling paint was observed on the lower portion of the wall in the Buzzing Bees #2 classroom. Plan of Correction: The room will be painted on June 6th.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-N Description: Based on medication review, when an authorization for medication expired, the center did not notify the parent to pick up the medication within 14 days or to renew the authorization. Evidence: A medication for Child 5 was observed on site and the written medication authorization form was expired. Plan of Correction: I will get a new form.
