Technical Assistance:
Discussed the following with the director: - required paperwork for children enrolled on a 2 week free basis - policies in regards to meeting special needs of children

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was initiated today at 11:15am. There were 26 children under the supervision of 4 staff. During the inspection, children were observed in a group activity where they learned about animals that live in Australia and days of the week. They then went to the playground to enjoy free play. Afterwards, they washed up and ate lunch. The children who did not bring food from home were served chicken (or veggie) nuggets, cucumber, banana and milk. There are currently 2 staff certified to administer medications at the center. Should you have any questions, please contact me.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observations, not all areas of the center were maintained in a safe condition. Evidence 1. On the gate, which leads to the outside playground area, there was the tip of a nail protruding out of the wood near the metal latch which secures the gate shut.

Plan of Correction: The director will have this taken care of.
