Conducted an unannounced renewal study with the Director, fifteen staff, and 107 children. The ages of the children range from two months-old through twelve years-old. The children were eating lunch, napping, and having free play during the inspection. Five staff records and seven children's records were reviewed. Also, six children's medications were reviewed today. The fire and health inspections were current and up to date. Start time: 10:45am End time: 2:15pm
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on a review of seven children's records, it was determined that one record was not complete. Evidence: Child A was missing a name, telephone number, and street address for the second emergency contact. Plan of Correction: The director called the parent during the inspection, and corrected the missing information.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on an observation in one classroom, there were hazardous substances not kept in a locked place. Evidence: In Classroom A, there were eight bottles of sunscreen in the cubbies, accessible to the children. Plan of Correction: This was corrected during the inspection, and the bottles of sunscreen were placed in a container and locked in a cabinet.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on a direct observation, the changing pad was in disrepair. Evidence: In Classroom B, there was a changing pad that was soiled, torn, and tattered. Plan of Correction: The director stated that new changing pads were ordered already for the diapering areas.
