Today an unannounced monitoring visit was conducted with One of the Directors-Deanna Toman. This visit took place in the morning between 9:15am 12:30 there were 11 classrooms and the summer camp (78 students) observed with a total of 125 children with 25 staff within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed having outdoor play time, pony rides, circle time, snack, story-time, playing board games, and having lunch. Lunch today consisted of lasagna, salad, garlic bread, fruit cups and milk. Positive interactions were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the physical plant, fire drill log, medications, and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation of the physical plant, the following areas were found not being maintained in a clean, safe and operable condition. Evidence: In classroom #252, the tile along the baseboard and floor were found chipped/broken. Plan of Correction: Admin stated that they will report this to the facilities minister to have it fixed as soon as possible.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-520-D Description: Based on observation of the classroom, insect repellent were found unlocked and accessible to children under 5 years of age. Evidence: In the 3'S classroom, insect repellent was found in a cubby accessible to children. Plan of Correction: Admin immediately removed the insect repellent and will remind parents and staff to keep it locked at all times.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G Description: Based on observation of the classroom, the food containers brought from home were found not labeled with the child's name and or date. Evidence: In classroom #1, 2 lunch containers were found without the name and date. Plan of Correction: Admin stated that they will remind staff and parents to label and date all found containers when children arrive in the morning.
