63.2 Facilities and Programs..

An unannounced inspection has been completed today. The Program has a new Director and transferred an assistant from another location. Staff were interviewed, classrooms observed, and records checked to determine compliance in the Program. The staff interviewed were able to answer questions and were observed engaged in the children's activities. Staff were aware of the children in care and this includes special care provisions and development. Please call with questions 703-479-4679

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-160-A
Description: Based on record review of a staff member's file, the center failed to obtain a TB Screening report that met the completion date time frame. Evidence: 1. Staff members file has a TB Screening report that was conducted over a year before employment began in Kinder Care.

Plan of Correction: It will be corrected and time frame will be reviewed for all staff.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A
Description: Based on observation, the center has failed to maintain clean and debris free floors in the preschool area and around the baseboards. Evidence: 1. The floors were sticky and had dark dirt and residue along the floor around the baseboards.

Plan of Correction: We are in the process of having floors recleaned and will continue to make improvements.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-340-A
Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that children were supervised by staff during hearing tests. Evidence: 1. There were three people present from a local community organization and they were conducting hearing tests in the Preschool room. At this time, there were no staff present in the room to ensure supervision by staff was still followed.

Plan of Correction: As the Director, I realized we needed someone to stay with the volunteers and concluded hat I would stay and remain with them as they tested the children.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-580-B
Description: Based on observation of the vans used for field trips, the center has failed to ensure all items on the van are securely fastened to avoid possible hazards. Evidence: 1. Both vans had required extinguishers on the floor of each vehicle. Both were not securely fasted to the floor.

Plan of Correction: Maintenance will correct that.
