Comments:
An uannounced renewal inspection was initiated today at 2:50pm. The physical plant, 4 children's files, fire inspection, children's activities, medications, emergency procedures, drills and supplies were inspected today. There were 61 children under the supervision of 4 staff. During the inspection, children were observed enjoying free time, cleaning up for and eating afternoon snack, working on their homework (quiet time) and playing group games in the gym. For snack, the children were served Smartfood popcorn and juice. The interactions between the children and staff were seen to be positive and constructive in nature. Reminder that staff files are not reviewed during on-site inspections. This is completed during an annual administrative file review. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C
Description: Based on observations, the center did not follow all procedures for administering medications. Evidence 1. Child #5 has the following medications at the center which have expired: children's tylenol (exp. 2/15), children's motrin (exp 7/15), and benedryl cream ( exp 3/15)

Plan of Correction: The Site Supervisor will talk to the parents about this today and ask for replacements to be brought into the center.
