- Technical Assistance:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on October 9, 2015 at 9:30 a. m. and concluded at 11:20 a. m. The inspector met with the staff and some but not all Child Day Center standards were reviewed. The following staff-to-child ratios and activities were observed. Infants: There were six infants with two staff. The staff were observed sitting on the rug with the infants and the infants were having free play with toys. Older Infant/Toddlers: There were seven infant/toddlers with two staff. The infant/toddlers were observed having free play. Two Years: There were eight children with two staff. The children were observed having free play in a variety of interest centers. The staff are working on "My Home and Family" theme. Preschool (Three Years) There were ten children with one staff. The children were engaged in circle time and they were singing songs "The Days of the Week" and going over the month. Pre-K (Four-Five Years): There were 12 children with two staff. The children were observed playing outside. Lunch for today was Fish Sticks, Potato Wedges, Apple Sauce, and Milk. Three children's records were reviewed. Three staff records were reviewed. Two classroom observations were conducted. Conversations were held with several staff and children. Medication procedures were observed. The last monthly evacuation drill was documented on 9/8/15.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-330-C Description: Based on observation the center did not have concrete covered that supports the basketball pole. Evidence: On 10/9/15, the inspector observed concrete exposed that supports the basketball pole. The concrete could cause a tripping hazard. Plan of Correction: Will cover the support concrete today.
