Comments:
Thank you for your time and assistance with the unannounced monitoring inspection conducted today, October 19, 2015. The on-site visit was from 9:10 a.m. to 12:20 p.m. On this date, there were twenty-one (21) children in the care of two (2) staff members and two (2) co-op parents. There were a total of thirty-one (31) children enrolled in the morning preschool program with a maximum of twenty-four (24) attending on any one day. The exception to compliance was noted on the violation notice and the risk rating was discussed. Two (2) staff members' records, two (2) co-op parents' records and four (4) children's records were reviewed. Two staff members, two co-op parent, and two children were interviewed. The medication and medication paperwork were reviewed for two children. Snack was observed to meet the USDA guidelines and was provided by the parents. There was an ample supply of equipment and learning materials available for the children to use. The themes for the month were Insects, Spiders, Colors and Halloween. Opening meeting time, choice time, firefighter dress-up, constructing 3-D shapes from straws and clay, snack, outside play, story time, musical and movement activities, and dismissal procedures were observed during the visit. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A
Description: Based on observation and verification from a staff member, it was determined the center failed to have some children wash their hands after eating. Evidence: 1. During the 10/19/2015 inspection the children in Group A did not wash their hands with soap and running water or with disposable wipes after eating morning snack. 2. Staff #2 verified that they forgot to have the children use wipes after snack.

Plan of Correction: Beginning tomorrow, the staff will ensure that all children either wash hands with soap and water or use disposable wipes after eating snack.
