Children's emergency information.
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection, at which play groups, story time, art time, group time, pre-lunch activities, and lunch were observed. Children were observed; and staff and children files and other documentation were reviewed. Thirty-one (31) children were found to be in care with 5 staff, kitchen staff, and office staff. Previous violations were reviewed, and had been corrected. Please contact me if you need further assistance. Thank you for your cooperation. This inspection began at 9:20am and concluded at 11:30am.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on review of the playground the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required relating to up keep of the play areas. Evidence: On the preschool and toddler playgrounds the resilient surfacing had large jagged pieces of sticks/mulch that covered the majority of the play areas. These sticks pose an impalement hazard to the children upon falling while actively using the play areas. Also, on the preschool play ground the upper portion of the chains of the swings are rusted and could pose a breaking hazard while in use. A rake was laying out near the swings during this inspection posing a hazard to the children. Plan of Correction: The playground will be combed for these bigger pieces of mulch/sticks and removed within the next 2 weeks. New refined mulch will be obtained and added after the winter is over. The swing chains will be assessed for any damage, re sanded, and painted to cover any remaining rust areas. If hazards are found they will be removed immediately for the safety of the children and for continued compliance.
