An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 1/29/16 between 5:00 and 6:45. The inspection was conducted with the new assistant director. The inspector spoke with staff and children in all classrooms. The following staff/child ratios were observed: Infants ? three staff with two children (2 classrooms); Toddlers - one staff with two children; 2?s - two staff with 11 children; 3?s - school age - two staff with 12 children; 4's - school age - one staff with 8 children. The classrooms were combined as the number of children decreased. All staff/child ratios were correct. The children were engaged in various activities including playing. reading stories, and working puzzles. Snack this afternoon was yogurt, mandarin oranges and crackers. Health inspection ? 7/23/15 Fire inspection ? 1/7/16 Last fire drill 1/27/16 and two shelter-in-place drills need to be conducted by 6/16 All required documents were posted including license, licensing notices, menu, and evacuation information.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: The center failed to conduct monthly fire drills. There was no documentation that a drill was conducted for three months. Evidence: The evacuation drill record was reviewed and there was no documentation that a drill was conducted in the months of August, September or October, 2015. Plan of Correction: We will do monthly fire drills and 2 shelter-in-place drills each year.
