22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on February 2, 2016. The director and the assistant director were present. In the Infant Room there were 10 infants with 3 staff. Two infants were in high chairs being fed by 1 staff, and 8 infants were on the floor with 2 staff. There were 15 toddlers with 3 staff, and they were outside on the playground. All other groups of children were involved in center play activities. This included 15 Pre-K children with 2 staff, 10 Preschool children with 1 staff, 16 Early Preschool children with 2 staff, and 8 Junior Kindergarten children with 1 staff. As the inspection ended the children were eating their lunch. The Infant Room and Junior Kindergarten Room were measured to calculate the capacity for each of the rooms. The capacity for Infant Room was determined to be 12 infants. The capacity for the Junior Kindergarten was determined to be 19 children. The Toddler Room (previously the Infant Room) capacity was noted to be 16 children. All other rooms had no changes. Inspection began: 10:00 Inspection ended: 12:10
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-1-C Description: Based on a review of 5 staff records, the center did not have a central registry find and criminal record check report for a staff that had been done within three years since the most recent clearances. Evidence: The record for Staff # 5 documented that the staff was hired 8/27/12. The most recent central registry search was dated 10/12/12 and the most recent criminal history record check report was dated 9/11/12. Plan of Correction: The updated clearances are being requested today.
