Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today by the licensing inspector. All required information was posted. The center director was present and assisted during the inspection. The facility is renewing from a Conditional license. There is currently no medication be administered to children in care. There were 11 children present, ages 22 mos through 4 years with 3 staff, plus center administrators. Children were doing a Valentine's day art project and preparing for a Valentine "dance" scheduled for tomorrow. There was a variety of age and stage appropriate materials accessible to the children. Lunch was served and children transitioned to nap time during the inspection. A sample of staff and children's records were reviewed during the inspection. Previous violations have been corrected. All operating hours are covered with staff trained in first aid/CPR and health observation. Vehicle drivers also have first aid/CPR training. The first aid supplies and flashlight/radio were checked. Evacuation drills were documented monthly in 2015. Transportation information carried on the vehicle was complete. lunch today: chicken nuggets, corn, pineapple, milk snacks - yogurt, cereal, milk and grahams, milk liability insurance expiration 4/3/16 approximate time on site: 10: 30 am - 1:55 pm

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D
Description: Based on observation, the facility did not ensure implementation of a shelter in place drill. Evidence: The log was completed for evacuation drills, but a shelter in place drill had not been practiced and documented from the time the center opened in late August through December 2015.

Plan of Correction: A shelter in place/tornado drill will be done on Monday, February 15, 2016 when all the children are present. We will set dates on the calendar to do additional drills in 2016.

Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-1
Description: Based on review of a sample of staff records, the facility did not ensure a criminal history record was on file within 30 days. Evidence: Staff #1 has been employed more than 30 days and did not have a criminal history record on file. The request had been sent but there was not follow up documentation on file regarding it's whereabouts,

Plan of Correction: I will have the form completed and take it to the state police for completion.
