Comments:
The inspector conducted an unannounced mandated renewal inspection from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 at the center and reviewed staff records at the main office from 1:45 p.m. until 2:30. The center had 29 children in care with staff supervising at all times. Two family service workers, the cook, a bus driver, and the education coordinator were also present at times during the inspection. Children were observed at centers, playing in the indoor play area, interacting positively with staff, and getting ready for nap time. Medication administration was observed. One bus was was inspected. Three children's records and three staff records were reviewed. The violation from the last inspection had been corrected. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-A
Description: Based on record review, the center did not have an annual fire inspection report. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed the last fire inspection and it was dated 2/24/2015.

Plan of Correction: The director has called the fire inspector to check the status on the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the center did not keep all cleaning materials locked. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed two bottles of cleaner in the cabinet above the counter in classroom #1. The cleaners were not accessible to children but were not locked.

Plan of Correction: The teacher will move the cleaners to the locked cabinet and in the future make sure all hazardous materials are locked.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-G
Description: Based on record review and observation, the center did not administer prescription drugs in the accordance with the prescriber's instructions pertaining to manner of administration. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed staff crushing and administering a prescribed medication to child #1. 2. The MAT forms completed by the physician did not state the medication should be crushed before being administered and the prescription bottle did not state that the medication could be crushed.

Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection. Head start staff called the physician's office and go the authorization to be able to crush the mediation. Head start staff in the future will make sure to follow the prescription label on how a mediation is to be administered.
