An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today by the licensing inspector. Some but not all standards were checked today. The children and staff were celebrating St. Patrick's day with shamrocks, leprechauns, green food and cookies, shamrock tatoos, and lots of seasonal art projects. The children's art work is displayed throughout the center. Classrooms are filled with a variety of age and stage appropriate materials for the children. Children were observed on the preschool playground and in four classrooms.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-D Description: Based on inspection of medications/authorizations, the facility did not ensure long term authorizations were current.
Evidence: Children #6 & #7 have long term medication authorizations signed by a physician that had expired.
#6 epi pen authorization expired 3/4/16.
#7 epi pen authorization expired 1/26/16.
Benadryl authorization expired 1/31/15.
Plan of Correction: We will have the parents sign a short term authorization today at pick up.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on review of documentation, the facility did not provide documentation of shelter in place drills.
Evidence: Shelter in place dills were not documented on the "log" sheet for 2015. Two shelter in place drills are required annually.
Plan of Correction: We did the shelter in place drills, including tornado and intruder drills, however they were not documented. We will document them when they are done.
