The following inspection took place between the hours of 12 pm (noon) through 2:30 pm. Today, I met with the Staff of the Goddard School located in Leesburg, Virginia. At the start of this unannounced monitoring inspection there were a total of 91 children with 15 staff; good ratios in all 8 rooms. A total of 3 children?s files and 2 new staff files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: story time, movie time, centers in the room, lunch, finishing up after lunch, bathroom break, hand washing, diaper changing, nap time, and other organized activities. A special event was also planned for the day - Spring Egg Hunt for the kids that took place on the center playground. If you should have any future questions, please call. Thank you. Charlie Perkins, Licensing Inspector (703) 309-3963
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-130-B Description: Based on review, 3 of 3 children's files reviewed did not obtain documentation of additional immunizations once every six months for children under the age of two years. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (03/24/2016), the following children were without an updated immunization page: Child #1 (immunization page dated - 08/13/2015), Child #2 (immunization page dated - 06/08/2015), and Child #3 - (immunization page dated - 07/09/2015). 2. Based on documentation on file, Child #1, Child #2, and Child #3 were all under the age of two years on the date of inspection. Plan of Correction: An updated immunization page will be obtain from the parent of each applicable child and placed on file.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, an area outside the center was not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (03/24/2016), plastic fencing was taken down that bordered the back of the playground. As the fencing was removed from each stake, (on some) the staples became dislodged from its surface and left them poking out. 2. These dislodged staples pose as a possible hazard; capable of either snagging skin or clothing. Plan of Correction: All applicable stakes will be removed. In the meantime, the children will be kept away from them.
