An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today March 31, 2015 to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. Most but not all standards were reviewed during today's Inspection. The inspector arrived at 11:30 am and concluded the inspection at 1:30 pm. Upon the inspector arrival, the preschool, school age children and two year old class were combined and having lunch at the picnic tables outside on the large playground. School age children are in attendance for a full day this week as it is spring break for the areas public schools. Staff assisted children with opening items, encouraged them to try foods and eat all their meal before washing hands and heading off to play on the playground. Staff circulated around the playground where older children climbed on the equipment and the younger children played with push toy mowers and with dump trucks and rocks. Later children returned inside for bathroom breaks, diapering and hand washing. A evacuation drill was conducted while the inspector was on site. Children exited the building is a calm and quite manner. Later the older children had quite time where they read books. After a period of time the older children were allowed electronic time. Children played with hand held tablets and watched a children's video. The younger children had a story before going down for nap. The center has been completing some spring maintenance with new railing on the climbing equipment, new fencing in areas that needed repair and adding bright colored paint to benches and rocking chairs. Children provide their own meals which were labeled with names and dates as required. The center provides a snack. The classrooms, kitchen and outdoor areas were inspected. The classrooms have multiple pieces of children art work on display. There is a variety of age and stage appropriate materials. The center had the following posted: license, daily schedule, emergency numbers, evacuation maps, and various parent information. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected on each floor and found complete. The inspector interacted with both staff and children during the inspection. Today the following ratios were observed: Preschool and school age combined: 12 children with 2 staff. Young pre school: (2-3 years) 9 children with 3 staff. Two staff records were reviewed and five children's records were reviewed during today's inspection. Medication is being administered and multiple staff have current MAT/PMAT/Emergency Rectal Medication certification. Medications authorizations were reviewed. Staff have Daily Health Observation training, CPR and First aid training. Fire Inspection: 08/06/2015 Health Inspection: 02/29/2016 The most recent evacuation drill was held today, 03/31/2016. The two required shelter-in-place drill for 2015 were completed on 01/16/2015 and 03/17/2015. One of the two shelter-in-place drills for the current year was documented on 02/24/2016. The violations from the previous inspection on 09/22/2015 were checked for corrections. There were no repeat violations found during today's inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F-4 Description: Based on observation, the facility did not ensure a menu listing foods to be served for meals and snacks during the current one week period was posted. Evidence: A snack menu was posted however it only had four Mondays in the month of March noted with what snack was served. The remaining days did not have what snack item served listed. Plan of Correction: Per the Director; We will complete the entire monthly snack menu and post it for parents. Any changes will be noted on the menu the day it applies.
