Comments:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced renewal inspection April 7, 2016 from approximately 9:50am to 1:10pm. The following ratios were observed with a total of 43 children present during the inspection: Infants - 6 children with 2 staff Toddlers - 10 children with 2 staff Discovery Preschool (Twos) - 6 children with 1 staff Preschool - 8 children with 1 staff Pre-K - 13 children with 2 staff School Age children were not present during the inspection. The children were engaged in a variety of activities when the licensing inspector arrived. Infants were observed playing on the floor with their teachers, sleeping in their cribs, having their diapers changed and being fed. The Toddlers were observed playing with a tunnel and participating in music and movement. The Twos classroom was observed finger painting oranges as they learned about plants and gardens. The Threes were observed playing in centers including building with legos, playing in the sand table, playing in dramatic play area and practicing their writing skills. The Pre-K children were observed participating in centers. Children listened to the story Chicken Little, played board games, worked on patterns, played on the computer, learned life science lessons, and built with blocks. Later, the center was observed eating lunch. Lunch consisted of tuna tacos, peas, blueberries and milk. All areas of the center including classrooms, hallways, kitchens, and bathrooms were inspected. The playgrounds were not inspected due to inclement weather. The center was equipped with toys and supplies and items were available to the children. The following information was reviewed: updated injury prevention plan, injury reports, daily sheets, daily attendance, emergency preparedness plan, practiced emergency drill logs children?s assessments, parent agreements, staff training information and liability insurance. The center's first aid kit and emergency supplies were inspected. Medication is administered and medication and authorization forms were reviewed. Last documented health inspection: 03/03/16 Last documented fire inspection: 02/19/16 During the inspection, four children and three employee records were reviewed. The risk profile tool will be used for the licensing recommendation once all of the necessary paperwork is received by the licensing department. The renewal application was received prior to the expiration of the current license. Until the new license is received, the provider is legally operating. Description: Based on observation, the facility did not have the most recent inspection summary / violation notice posted on the premises. Evidence: During the inspection, the licensing inspector observed the inspection summary/violation notice posted by the entrance of the facility in a sealed frame. The violation notice was not visible. The inspection in the frame was dated 11/23/15. An inspection was conducted on 02/19/16.
