The following inspection took place between the hours of 10 am through 1 pm. Today, I met with the Staff of the licensed preschool program held on site at Ida Lee Recreational Center located in the town of Leesburg, Virginia. At the start of this unannounced renewal inspection there were a total of 11 children in the AM 3's program, and 8 children in the PM 3's program with the same 2 staff; good ratios for both programs. A total of 8 children?s files and 3 staff files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: learning centers within the room, craft project, theme week of insects, pattern blocks, carpet and story time, and other organized activities. If you should have any future questions, please call. Thank you. Charlie Perkins, Licensing Inspector (703) 309-3963
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation and interview, equipment of the center, outside, was not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (05/17/2016), on the small playground outside the back of the center, a "rocker" shaped as an ATV had a 4 inch crack on its top left side. 2. It appeared that an attempt had been made to fill this crack, however only 3 inches were filled. 3. The crack was sharp to the touch. No children were on playground on the date of inspection due to the weather. 4. The Center Director stated (during an interview on the date of inspection) that maintenance has attempted to fix the issue, but their attempts may have been impacted by the rain. Plan of Correction: Maintenance has addressed this issue and may now need to follow-up. In the meantime, access to this piece of equipment will be restricted.
