- Technical Assistance:
An announced initial inspection was conducted on June 13, 2016 by the licensing inspector at the facility from approximately 10:30am-12:30pm. The owner and center director were present and assisted during the inspection.
The facility plans to operate year round, Monday through Friday from 6:30am to 6:00pm, and will serve up to 60 children, age ranging from 4 years, 9 months through 12 years of age. The building consisted of one large room that is divided into a variety of centers of interest, including history, science and math, media center, art stations, dress-up & home living area and a library area. Children will be given opportunity to complete homework and will be assisted by staff members. During the initial study, the facility was observed to be well laid out and filled with equipment for children. The classrooms have toys, educational materials, games, arts and crafts materials, books, tables, T.V. and video games, and computers. All areas of the center including the classroom, hallways, bathrooms, kitchen, and playgrounds were inspected.
During the inspection, the following items were reviewed and discussed; staff policies and procedures, emergency preparedness plan, emergency supplies, medication policies, field trips, storage of cleaning supplies, menus, daily attendance sheets, The program will be providing snack and lunch to children in care. Transportation will be offered. Transportation documents were reviewed during the inspection. Six staff records were reviewed. Children's records will be reviewed at the follow-up inspection.
The facility has submitted all of the required application materials at this time. Though, some standards of care could not be determined during the initial study, the center is in substantial compliance with the standards that could be determined. A recommendation for a six-month conditional license will be made at this time. During the conditional period, the center will be subject to unannounced licensing inspections, with the first inspection taking place within the first sixty days of licensure.
