Comments:
An initial licensing inspection was conducted, by appointment, on July 5, 2016 between the hours of 1:10 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. The program was not in operation on this date and no children were observed to be in care. The facility and outdoor playground area were toured and measured. Based on the program capacity, the outdoor playground space exceeded the required 75 square feet per child. It is understood that the fenced playground area/equipment will not be used by the program. The facility was observed to be clean. Three children's records and two staff records were reviewed. Applicable policies, procedures, reports and forms were reviewed and required posted information was discussed. Safety equipment (first aid kit, emergency supplies, flashlight and radio) was examined for compliance. Thank you for your time and assistance during the inspection process. No violations of licensing standards were cited during this inspection. It is evident that much thought, effort and planning have gone into the establishment of the program and the set-up of the classroom environment. As discussed, the program's age range will be modified following closure of the summer camp and prior to the opening of the fall program. Upon receipt of a revised emergency plan and verification of staff certification in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), a recommendation will be made for the issuance of a conditional child day center license, with a capacity of twenty-two (22) children and an age range of three years through twelve (12) years. Please contact me if you have questions concerning this inspection, the licensing standards and/or if I may be of assistance to you (540) 430-9262.
