Comments:
Today an unannounced renewal inspection was conducted beginning at 10am. There were 8 children present on-site today in the daycare program. There were also 8 children in the "Camp on the Road" program with two staff. Today "Camp on the Road" was at Luray Caverns. Lunch bags for children in the daycare program were all observed to labeled with children's names and dates. Children were observed cleaning up in their classroom and preparing for snack. The physical plant inspection included the playground, classroom for daycare, indoor play areas, and a new garden that the children have planted. There are currently no medications on-site for the summer programs. Three children's records were reviewed and found to be complete with required, updated information. Staff records are reviewed annually in the administrative office. Today we discussed the renewal application that has not been received in the licensing office to-date. The application, with the renewal fee, is being submitted this week per a discussion with administration. This inspection, including the exit interview, ended at 11am. Should you have any questions, please call.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D
Description: Based on discussion and record review, not all licensed programs at the center have practiced and documented required monthly evacuation drills and shelter-in-place drills. Evidence: The after school program has documentation that all monthly evacuation drills and two shelter-in-place drills were practiced in the 2015-16 program year. However, daycare and preschool programs did not practice an emergency evacuation drill January, February, March and April of 2016. Daycare and preschool programs also have no documentation that a shelter-in-place drill was practiced from January-August of 2016.

Plan of Correction: We will practice and document all required drills with all licensed programs.
