Technical Assistance:
Discussed SACC Arrival Policy as it pertains to parents not bringing children into the school and then the room. Discussed staff's awareness to children to ensure kids are accounted for after the main door is open from the classroom.

Comments:
An early morning inspection was conducted from 755 AM- 9:00 AM. The Inspector arrived and observed the children in two classrooms an 5 staff present. The children were engaged in activities from origami to card games. The children were observed arriving into the building and program and many were not accompanied by the parents. There were 47 children at one point and staff split them between outside play and inside activities. Records were reviewed, posted documents were checked, medication procedures checked, and attendance procedures were observed. Please call with questions 703-479-4679

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-40-D
Description: Most recent License is not posted.

Plan of Correction: It was discarded over the summer and we have requested a new one.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A
Description: Based on record review, the staff have not completed annual updates of children's files. Five out of five files were not updated in the last year to verify parents information listed on the enrollment forms are still current.

Plan of Correction: On the table, I showed the Inspector the files and how we have been in the process to updates these files. We have been talking to the parents and requesting they update and sign the reviews.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A-7
Description: Based on record review of child file #5, the center has not obtained a plan of emergency action to take in the event the child has an allergic reaction. The file states that the child should be given emergency medication but the center is not in possession of the medication and cannot administer the medication.

Plan of Correction: We will require the parent to fill out a plan of action that can be taken and have the parent sign it.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the center staff are not ensuring that cleaning materials stay in locked cabinets . The Inspector walked over into room two and found the key to the cabinet in the door and fund over 5 bottles of cleaning materials in the cabinet.

Plan of Correction: Staff will be reminded to keep keys out of the locks.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-M
Description: Based on review of injury reports, the center staff are not listing any future action to prevent recurrence of the injury. The description given for injuries that are unusual do not have an action that addresses the incident.

Plan of Correction: We will be sure to write what we have done or what we have explained to the kids to prevent future incidents.
