We discussed the requirements for staff records. The risk assessment for a violation was provided. We talked about plans for ongoing maintenance of the playground. Check the e-mail notifications for upcoming changes with background check requirements in 2017.
Thank you for your assistance during today's unannounced renewal inspection conducted from 9:25 AM to 1:45 PM. Today, there were fifteen three year old children attending the morning session with three staff. There were two teachers with fourteen children, ages three and four years, during the afternoon session. I viewed program activities, staffing, supervision, interactions with children, daily routines, equipment, snack, posted information, emergency planning, injury prevention plans, emergency supplies and drill records, agency inspection reports, asbestos abatement documentation, records for board officers, four staff records, staff training, staff qualifications, four records for children, medication, insurance, indoor and outdoor areas. The children were engaged in activities, stories, art and music with autumn season themes. The children will be taking nature walks during the week. Teachers were observed providing frequent interactions, positive guidance and age appropriate methods of facilitating individual learning. Renewal of the regular two year license will be recommended. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on a review of four records for staff, and interviews with staff, there was required information that could not be located in the staff records. Evidence: The M.A.T. certificate could not be located in the record for staff member 1. Staff member 1 said she obtained the medication training during her first year of employment. Plan of Correction: Staff member 1 will contact the M.A.T. trainer for a replacement copy of the training certificate or written verification of the M.A.T. certification if a copy of the M.A.T. certificate is not located. The administrative staff will continue to use the staff cover sheet to track the records provided and placed in each staff member's files.
