An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with the director beginning at 11:00 AM and ending at 2:30 PM. There were seventy-five children in care ages ranging from three months to four years old. The children were observed during instructional time learning about sharks, playing with instruments, and singing. Children were observed during free play, and nap time. The children were also observed during lunch which consisted of beef stroganoff, peas, pineapple, and milk. Eight medications were reviewed and determined to be in compliance. Ten children's records and four staff records were reviewed and determined to be in compliance. The most recent fire inspection was conducted on January 7, 2016. The most recent health inspection was conducted on May 5, 2016. The most recent emergency escape drill was conducted on August 29, 2016. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A Description: Based on observation, children did not wash hands after eating a meal. Evidence: Children in the two year old classroom did not wash their hands after eating lunch. Plan of Correction: The director spoke to the staff member regarding hand washing. Staff will be provided retraining on hand washing procedures.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-B Description: Based on observation, the diapering surface was not sanitized after each use. Evidence: In the two year old classroom two children were observed during diapering. The diapering surface was not sanitized between diaper changes. Plan of Correction: The director spoke to the staff member regarding diapering procedures. Staff will be provided retraining on diapering procedures.
