An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 11/21/16 from 10:45am - 12:30pm. During the inspection there were 35 children ages five months to five years old in care with ten staff. A tour of the facility was conducted and children were observed in a variety of activities in the classrooms, during rest period, and eating lunch. Records were reviewed for five children and five staff. There was no medication at the facility. Emergency procedures and emergency supplies were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice, and were discussed during the exit interview.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-570-A Description: Based on observation and interviews, it was determined that the facility did not ensure that when a child is placed in a high chair, the protective belt shall be fastened securely. Evidence: 1. The Licensing Inspector observed four children eating lunch in high chairs in the Toddler room. 2. When the child closest to the counter was don, the Licensing Inspector observed him stand up in the high chair as the teacher approached. 3. When questioned about whether the children were secured using the straps on the high chair, both staff present in the Toddler classroom stated no they did not use the straps for any of the children. Plan of Correction: Teachers will be re-trained to use the straps any time children are placed in high chairs.
