Discussion held today on the topic of using medication authorization forms that do not give other entities (i.e Fairfax County Public Schools) the permission to administer medication.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today, December 8,2016 from 11:00am until 12:40pm . The inspector observed 57 children directly supervised by 7 staff members. Ratios and supervision were in compliance. A sample of 4 children's records, 3 staff records were reviewed and 3 medication records were reviewed. The physical plant, emergency supplies and procedures were also reviewed. The children were engaged in various activities, to include: painting, puzzle play, transitioning to outside, washing hands, eating lunch and large group story time. Areas of non-compliance are identified in this report. The exit interview was conducted with the Director. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-A Description: Based on medication review, the center did not follow it's medication policies. Evidence: 1. Child #1's emergency medication expired 11/2016. 2. Child #2's emergency medication expired 10/2016. Plan of Correction: The center will notify parents today and request new medication be brought to the center.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-3-D Description: Based on record review and staff statement, one staff member did not have a criminal record check before three years since the date of the most recent criminal record check. Evidence: 1. Staff # 1's criminal record check was last completed on 8/20/2013. 2. The site manager said the form had been submitted and returned to the school with deficiencies. The form has since been corrected and resubmitted. Plan of Correction: School is awaiting the form in the mail.
