The playground and level of resilient surfacing could not be inspected today due to current heavy rain.
An unannounced full renewal inspection was conducted today. There were 38 children in care, with a total of 6 staff members assigned to their direct supervision. In addition, 3 co-op parents were on site and fully engaged with the children. The children were observed playing at the "fix it" table, reading dinosaur books, playing with dinosaur toys, engaging in a wide variety of creative play activities, attending music class, and digging for dinosaur fossils at the sand table. Creative activities and pleasant interactions were observed in all classrooms. This inspection was completed between approximately 10:00 am and 12:15 pm. Thank you for meeting with me today. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A Description: Based on a review of staff records, it was determined that one record was not complete. Evidence: Staff record #2 does not include documentation to show that the staff person is fully qualified to be employed in her role of lead teacher. Plan of Correction: Now that I fully understand what documentation is required, I will ask her to bring a copy of her masters degree.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-A Description: Based on a review of the Emergency Preparedness Plan, it was determined that this plan has not been updated as required. Evidence: The Emergency Preparedness Plan has not been updated to reflect the names of current staff members with assigned emergency response roles. Plan of Correction: The plan will be updated.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-M Description: Based on a review of injury reports, it was determined that three of these reports were not completed as required. Evidence: Three of the injury reports for this school year did not include a second staff or parent signature. Plan of Correction: All injury reports will be completed correctly.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-40-D-1-B Description: Based on a review of administrative documents, it was determined that one required background check had not been completed. Evidence: Parent volunteer C, who was on site during this inspection, did not complete and sign a Sworn Disclosure Statement (SDS.) Plan of Correction: She will sign it today.
