Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today, January 25, 2017 to check for compliance with Licensing standards. The inspector initiated the inspection at 9:00 am and concluded the inspection at 10:30 am. Today there were 16 children in attendance with two staff. Upon the inspector's arrival children were gathered in circle time. Each child had a turn saying Hello to the class in a song that they were singing. Children were observed in centers (play-dough, house keeping/dress-up, and pattern blocks, dinosaurs, sand table and instruments). Children were also participating in a science project involving water beads that expanded in the water. Children described the change in how the beads felt, the size and how the beads bounced. Later children had time on the playground where they climb on the equipment, played with basketballs and hippity-hops. Staff circulated around the playground and initiated group games. All areas of the center were inspected to include the main hallway, cafeteria, bathroom, playground area and classroom. The facility had all required information posted to include: the License, last inspection notice, emergency numbers, menu, evacuation map/information, daily schedule along with various parent information and lesson plans. The classroom had children's work displayed with age and stage appropriate materials. The first aid kit and non-medical supplies were inspected and found complete. The inspector interacted with staff and children in care. Three children's records and two staff records were reviewed. Staff have current CPR, first aid, daily health observation training and MAT. Medications and authorizations were reviewed. One staff has current MAT certification. The most recent evacuation drill was conducted on 12/07/2016. The two required shelter-in-place drill for the 2015-2016 year were documented on 10/15/2015 and 01/29/2016. One shelter-in-place drill for the current year was documented on 09/16/2016. A second shelter-in-place drill will need to be complete by the end of the school year. Fire Inspection: 10/26/2016, Health Inspection: 09/22/2016 Today's menu consisted of BBQ pork riblet on a bun, french fries, fruit and milk. Violations from the previous inspection on October 19, 2016 were checked for corrections. There were no repeat violations cited during today's inspection. A complete renewal application has been received by The Department. If you have questions regarding this inspection, please contact the licensing inspector at 804-662-9758.
