- Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance today included kitchen areas, record keeping, medications and decorative items.
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 12:30 - 2:20 pm. There were four classes present today with 45 children. Rooms were within ratio. Schoolagers will arrive later. I arrived during naptime and observed children sleeping peacefully to soothing music. Classrooms had a good selection of age appropriate learning materials. The outdoor areas were not inspected due to heavy rain. Medications, children and staff records were found to be well-organized and paperwork was complete. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: During today's inspection, an area of the center was observed not to be maintained in a clean and safe condition. Evidence: Along the diaper table in the two year old room, an area of peeling caulk was accessible to children in care. Plan of Correction: We will put in a work order for it to be recaulked, and put a piece of tape on it now so it is not accessible.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-440-E Description: During today's inspection at naptime, it was observed that in two rooms there were areas that did not have enough space between cots to allow for passage as required. Evidence: In two classrooms, children's cots were observed to be blocked by the furniture in a way that did not allow for passage in the event of an emergency. Plan of Correction: We will come up with a plan to move tables and furniture to ensure safe passage and will retrain staff on the requirement for 12 inches of space between occupied cots.
