Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:45am-12:45pm. There were an appropriate number of staff to care for the children present. The physical plant, 3 staff records, 5 children?s records, evacuation drills, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, reading books, and eating snack. Hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on direct observation, there was a hazardous substance not kept in locked place. Evidence: 1. Classroom 1 had a bottle of cleaning solution hanging from a string, along the classroom window.

Plan of Correction: Hazardous substance is now locked up

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A
Description: Based on direct observation, children did not wash their hands after eating. Evidence: 1. All children observed washed their hands before eating but not after.

Plan of Correction: Staff has been reminded to wash hands before and after eating meals/snacks.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G
Description: Based on direct observation, food brought from home was not clearly dated and labeled in a way that identifies the owner. Evidence: 1. All food, brought from home, was labeled but not dated.

Plan of Correction: We are currently developing a labeling plan and will implement by Monday 13 February 2017
