Discussed upcoming expiration dates on your medication for the children in care.

Comments:
Today an unannounced renewal study was conducted beginning at Loudoun P & R-Leesburg Casa . There were 17 children present with 2 staff. Center site supervisor on currently on vacation. Children were observed arriving from school, completing homework, eating snack and handwashing to prepare for outside play . Six children's records, all medications along with authorizations were reviewed, emergency drills and injury log were also reviewed. Staff records are reviewed annually in the administrative office, however, MAT (medication administration training) and first aid/CPR certificates were available for review. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C
Description: Based on the center's own medication procedures, the center failed to follow their medication policy. Evidence: Child #6 has a physician authorization for the administration of an EpiPen which expired on 10/31/2016. This medication was still on site.

Plan of Correction: Staff will obtain a new physician authorization for this medication.
