Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today February 24, 2017 to determine the center's compliance with licensing standards. The inspector arrived at 10:20 am and concluded the inspection at 1:30 pm. Upon the inspector arrival, Children were outside on the playground. The preschool children were Q-tip painting at the easels, playing on the climbing equipment and picking flowers. The two/three year olds played with trucks in the pea gravel, took turns on the slide and showed the Inspector how fast they could run. Later children gathered in the classroom for a story, sang songs, and recited the pledge. Bathroom breaks and hand washing was conducted before children returned outside to have lunch at the picnic tables. Children provide their own lunch and the facility provides snacks (see violation notice). Staff were observed interacting with children in a positive manner. Staff circulated around the playground. Today was bring a quilt to school day as children reviewed the letter "Q". Children's art work was displayed in the classrooms. All areas of the center were inspected including classrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and the two playgrounds. Systems were in place to maintain the required resilient surfacing on the two playgrounds. Classrooms had age and stage appropriate materials. The first aid kits on each floor were inspected and found complete. The center had the following posted: license, daily schedule, emergency numbers, evacuation maps, and various parent information. The inspector interacted with both staff and children during the inspection. Today multiple staff were renewing their CPR and first aid certification. Today the following ratios were observed: Preschool: 21 children with 3 staff. Young pre school: (2-3 years) 16 children with 3 staff. School age children were not in attendance during the inspection. Five staff records and three children's records were reviewed during today's inspection. Per the director, there is no medication currently being administered. Multiple staff have current MAT/PMAT certification. The majority of staff have current Daily Health Observation training, CPR and First aid training. Fire Inspection: 08/16/2016 Health Inspection: 02/24/2017 The most recent evacuation drill was held 02/07/2017. The two required shelter-in-place drills for 2016 were documented on 02/24/2016 and 12/09/2016. A complete renewal application will need to be submitted before the expiration date in order for the license to be processed. The violations from the previous inspection on November 28, 2016 were checked for corrections. There were no repeat violations found during today's inspection. Description: Based on observation and interview, the facility did not obtain one working, battery operated radio in each building used by children. Evidence: The facility had a battery operated radio however they did not have working batteries for the radio.

Plan of Correction: Per the owner: We will stock up on extra batteries.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-F-4
Description: Based on observation, the facility did not ensure a menu for the current one week period listing the meals and snacks to be served was dated and posted for parents. Evidence: The snack menu posted did not have the food listed that was served for the current week. The last date food was listed was 02/17/2017.

Plan of Correction: Per the owner: I will print out a weekly menu and if a change occurs, i will mark through then add what was served.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G
Description: Based on observation, the facility did not ensure food brought from home was clearly dated and labeled in a way to identify the owner. Evidence: Multiple lunch boxes in the two/three year old classroom were not dated as required.

Plan of Correction: Per the owner: We will purchase a tub for all the lunches boxes and label it each day with the the date.
