Comments:
The licensing inspector conducted an unannounced monitoring inspection that began at the center at 9:40am and concluded with staff record reviews at the central office at 2:45pm. There were fourteen preschool children in care with three staff. The children were observed eating breakfast, enjoying family fun day where they made sun catchers, and at story time. Two staff and three children's records were reviewed. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to have hazardous substances stored in a locked place. Evidence: 1. The inspector observed the kitchen. There were containers of disinfectant/sanitizer and laundry detergent in the cabinet under the kitchen sink. There was no lock on the cabinet door. There is a door leading to the kitchen, but there was no lock on the kitchen door.

Plan of Correction: The teacher will move the containers to another cabinet and place a safety lock on the cabinet doors. The teacher will monitor to ensure all hazardous substances are stored in a locked place.
