22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)
An unannounced renewal study was conducted today beginning at 9:20am. 36 children were directly supervised by 7 staff members. Ratios were in compliance. The physical space, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, children's records, staff records, injury reports and medications were reviewed. An appropriate number of staff have MAT, First Aid & CPR training certificates. The children were observed transitioning outside, playing on the playground, engaged in circle time and eating snack. Today's snack was oranges, crackers and water. All required documentation was posted, including fire and health inspections. The center was clean, well organized and contained an abundance of materials to support the Reggio Emilia curriculum. The interactions between staff and children was positive. Areas of noncompliance are identified in the Violation Notice. If you have any questions regarding this inspection, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, the center was not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: 1) The bolts on the bottom of the toilets in the basement were exposed. 2) A portion of the wooden fence, located above a lower concrete barrier, is bowing and is disconnected from the other wood fence adjacent to it. Plan of Correction: I will notify the maintenance person today to repair the fence and replace the caps to the toilet bolts.
