Discussion was held on the topics of current enrollment and current staffing.
The following inspection took place between the hours of 10:30 am through 2 pm. Today, I met with the Staff of Children of America located in Sterling, Virginia. At the start of this unannounced monitoring inspection there were a total of 89 children with 15 staff; good ratios in all 9 rooms. A total of 5 children?s files and 9 new staff files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: story time, infant feeding, infant sleep, center play within each classroom, hand washing, bathroom break, diaper changing, games, letters of the alphabet, lunch (fish sticks, corn, bread, apples, served with milk), nap time, and other organized activities. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, one piece of equipment was observed to be in an unsafe condition. 1. On the date of inspection (03/27/2017), within the Pre-school IIA room, a blue mat chair appeared to be heavily worn, with signs of fraying and a slight tear. 2. This chair was accessible to the children in care at the time of inspection. Plan of Correction: The chair shall be removed and (if needed) replaced.
