22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)

An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today. There were 23 children in care, with a total of 3 staff members assigned to their direct supervision. The children were observed engaging in age-appropriate Montessori classroom activities, completing sink/float science experiments, and engaging in creative play. Thank you for meeting with me today. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-70-A
Description: Based on a review of new staff records, it was determined that two records were not complete. Evidence: 1. Staff record A does not include: documentation of First Day Orientation training and documentation of a completed TB Health Screening. 2. Staff record B does not include documentation of a completed TB Health Screening.

Plan of Correction: 1. The orientation was completed. The documentation will be placed in her file. 2. Both staff will be reminded to get their TB screening done this week, or provide documentation that it was already completed.

Description: Based on observations, it was determined that various cleaning products were not kept in a locked place. Evidence: 1. The back storage closet door was open when the Inspector arrived. Cleaning products are stored inside this closet. 2. In the extended day classroom, two containers of table cleaning products were stored in an unlocked cabinet beneath the sink.

Plan of Correction: The closet door was immediately locked during the inspection. The cleaning products were moved to a locking cabinet.
