22VAC40-191 Background Checks (22VAC40-191)
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 11:40 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. At the time of entrance the following adult to child ratios were observed: 6 children, age 2 years old, with 1 staff 4 children, ages 3 to 4 years old, with 1 staff 8 children, ages 16 to 23 months old, with 2 staff 8 infants, 4 to 17 months old, with 3 staff The records sample size consisted of 3 children?s records and 2 staff records. Children were observed eating lunch, which consisted of cheese sticks (on crust) broccolli, corn, and milk, resting quietly on cots and in cribs, being held, rocked and bottle fed. Restroom procedures, hand washing, food service and table sanitizing were also observed. Medication administration was not observed. The Director states that there are no children currently being administered medication while in care and that no children are currently transported in a vehicle while in care. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, the licensee did not ensure that all hazardous substances are kept in a locked location using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. If a key is used, the key shall not be accessible to the children. Evidence: There were 2 pump bottles of hand sanitizer on an open shelf at a height of about 5 feet in the two year old room. The bottles are labeled with a warning to "keep out of reach of children" and "contact poison control" if swallowed. Plan of Correction: These items were moved to a locked cabinet where they will continue to be stored when not in use.
