Technical Assistance:
Technical Assistance provided regarding emergency preparedness plan procedural components and documentation of children's allergies.

Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on April 25, 2017 during the aftercare portion of the program. The children were observed eating snack, doing homework, playing freely with each other and staff and doing various tabletop activities in the following areas: puzzles/games, library, science, creative arts and snack. At arrival to the facility there were nine children present with two staff members. The licensing inspector reviewed the following: physical plant, emergency supplies and procedures, nutrition, fire and health inspections, required postings and supervision. Two children's records were reviewed during this inspection. There are no medications present in the center at this time.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-A
Description: Based on review, the licensee did not provide to the licensing representative an annual fire inspection report from the appropriate fire official having jurisdiction. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on April 25, 2017, the most recent fire inspection report for the facility had expired and was dated 12/15/2015.

Plan of Correction: I will contact the Area Manager for the updated report.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-260-B
Description: Based on review, the licensee did not ensure annual approval from the health department. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on April 25, 2017, the most recent health inspection report for the facility had expired and was dated 3/9/2016.

Plan of Correction: I will contact the Area Manager for the updated report.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observation and inspection of the facility, the licensee did not ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials, insecticides, and pesticides shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on April 25, 2017, the licensing inspector observed hand sanitizer and borax on a cart in the cafeteria. The items were labeled keep out of reach of children and warning or caution.

Plan of Correction: The items will be put away and locked.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D
Description: Based on review, the licensee did not ensure that a minimum of two shelter-in-place practice drills per year for the most likely to occur scenarios were conducted. Evidence: During the inspection conducted on April 25, 2017, there was no documentation of shelter in place drills practiced in 2016.

Plan of Correction: We will get the shelter drills done immediately.
