An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 3:30pm-5:00pm. There were 35 children directly supervised by 4 staff. The physical plant, 4 children?s records, 2 medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, and eating a banana bread and milk snack. There was an abundant supply of materials for the children. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-50-A Description: Based on observation, children's record were not treated confidentially. Evidence: The supplemental page of the most recent licensing inspection which contains confidential information about children in the program was posted in a public area of the center. Plan of Correction: The page will be removed today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on medication review, the center did not have procedures in place to prevent the administration of expired medication. Evidence: Child #2's emergency medication expired in December 2016. Plan of Correction: The center will send home the medication today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-G Description: Based on review of medication, the center did not ensure medications administered to children were consistent with the prescribed dosage or 1. The written medical authorization for Child #2 filled out by the physician, lists that a pre measured dosage of .15 mg is to be administered in the event of severe allergic reaction. 2. The two pre measured emergency medication doses available for the child were a strength of .3 mg. Plan of Correction: The center will send home medication today.
