An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 10:00am-12:30pm. There were 56 children (infants-5yrs.) directly supervised by 9 staff. The physical plant, 6 staff records, 4 children?s records, 3 medications, evacuation drills, injury reports, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed participating in group play, singing songs with children, and reading books. Diapering and hand-washing procedures were also observed. There was an adequate number of staff with current certification in MAT, CPR and First Aid. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on record review, the center did not maintain complete and up to date records for all children. . Evidence: Child B are missing one parent work phone number. Plan of Correction: I will call parent and get phone number.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based on observation, equipment in the center was not maintained in a clean and safe condition. Evidence: A plastic toy piano had rusted keys and had visible dirt and dust on the surface. The door to the toddler room does not fully close. It appears to be misaligned and therefore cannot close properly. Plan of Correction: The toy was removed from the infant area at the time of inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-430-L Description: Based on observation, infant walkers were used in the infant room. Evidence: Two infant walkers were in the older infant room at the time of inspection. Plan of Correction: The walkers were removed from use at the time of inspection.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-C Description: Based on record review and observation, the center had expired medication. Evidence: Child A had a medication which expired on 2/2017. Plan of Correction: We will give back medication and get the child a new medication.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on record review, the minimum two shelter in place practice drills per year have not been conducted. Evidence: The last shelter in place drill conducted was in 4/2016. Plan of Correction: We will conduct shelter in place drill this month.
