Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B
Description: Based on observations the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required relating to locking up of hazards substances. Evidence: In the younger aged building the laundry closet was unlocked and there was a bottle of bleach on the shelf above the washer and dryer. Also, in the same building, in the toddler room there was a spray bottle of bleach and water mixture and a spray can of air freshener on top of the hand towel dispenser near the diapering area that were not in a locked area. These items were directly inaccessible to the children, but were not maintained in a locked area as required when not being directly used.

Plan of Correction: The Program Director locked the laundry room closet that day and has reminded the staff that the door must stay locked at all times. Posted not above lock to "Keep Door Locked".

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-500-A
Description: Based on observations the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required relating to hand washing. Evidence: The LI observed the children in the young 2's room having a morning snack for a color activity using jello and cool whip. Once the children were finished, the staff had the children move onto the next activity table without washing their hands as required. Also, the new group of children were told by staff to move to the previously vacated table to begin their activity with the jello and cool whip without washing their hands as required. Childrens hands are to washed with soap and water, or wipes, before and after meals or snacks for compliance.

Plan of Correction: The Program Director and Assistant Director will monitor before and after cooking activities to ensure that hand washing takes place. The Program Director will have all staff involved to read the "Hand washing Policy Training".

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-K
Description: Based on observations the facility failed to maintain compliance with this standard as required relating to sanitizing of eating areas. Evidence: The LI observed the children in the young 2's room having a morning snack for a color activity using jello and cool whip. Once the children were finished, the staff did not sanitize the table as required before another group of children arrived to the table upon the staffs direction. Tables are to be sanitized before and after any meals or snacks for compliance.

Plan of Correction: The Program Director and Assistant Director will monitor before and after use that the tables are being sanitized. The Program Director will review with the staff to sanitize tables as required before and after a cooking project.
