63.2 Facilities and Programs..
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted with the director beginning at 12:55 PM and ending at 3:15 PM. There were seventy-one children, age ranging from two months to five years old. The infants were observed playing with manipulatives. The toddlers and preschool children were observed sleeping or reading quietly while on their cots during the resting period. Six children?s records were reviewed and in compliance. Four staff records were reviewed. There were no medications on site. There are two staff members that are Medication Administration Training (MAT) certified which is required to administer medications. The first aid kit, flashlight, and weather-band radio were in compliance. The most recent emergency escape drill was documented as 4/18/2017. The most recent fire inspection was conducted 10/13/2016. Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-1 Description: Based on review of documentation, the center did not have documentation of criminal history record report for all staff within 30 days of employment as required. Evidence: Staff A, start date 03/23/2017, did not have a criminal history record report in the staff record. Plan of Correction: The criminal history record report was requested at initial employment. The program is waiting on the completed criminal background check. The director followed up with the VA State police during the inspection and will continue to do so. The staff will not be permitted to return to the program until the background check is received.
Standard #: 22VAC40-191-60-C-2 Description: Based on review of documentation, the center did not have documentation of central registry finding for all staff within 30 days of employment as required. Evidence: Staff A, start date 03/23/2017, did not have a central registry finding in the staff record. Plan of Correction: The central registry background check was requested at initial employment. The program is waiting on the completed background check from the central registry. The director followed up with the VDSS during the inspection and will continue to do so. The staff will not be permitted to return to the program until the background check is received.
