An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted from 11:00am to 1:40pm. Ratios were in compliance in all six classrooms. The physical space, evacuation drills, injury reports, medications, six children's records and attendance records were reviewed. Required documents were posted. Four staff records were reviewed and all requirements were current. A sufficient number of staff were MAT trained and all staff were up to date with CPR/First Aid and Daily Health Observation trainings. The center was clean, organized and contained an abundance of age appropriate materials. Children were observed washing hands and eating lunch. Today's menu consisted of tomato soup, grilled cheese, peaches and milk. In addition, the diaper changing procedure and tummy time activities were observed in the infant room. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-60-A Description: Based on record review, the center failed to ensure that children's records were maintained with the required information. Evidence: One out of six records reviewed did not have documentation of an annual update/review of emergency contact information by the parent. Plan of Correction: I will correct that right away.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-C Description: Based on observation, the center did not post an emergency evacuation map in a conspicuous location in one of the classrooms. Evidence: The emergency evacuation map was missing in the 5 year old classroom. Plan of Correction: I will put a new one up today.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D Description: Based on review of records, an evacuation drill was not practiced each month. Evidence: The last evacuation drill was conducted in March, 2017. April and May were missing the information recording the drills conducted in April and May. Plan of Correction: We will keep up with the drills from now on.
