VENDSUB-000 STAFF QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

Comments:
Licensing Inspector conducted an announced Subsidy Health and Safety Inspection to review staff records. The sample size consisted of seven staff records. Areas of noncompliance are identified on the Violation Notice.

Violations:
Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-B
Description: Based on record review, in two of seven staff records reviewed, the vendor did not ensure that within the first 90 days of employment or subsidy vendor approval; all staff shall complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff. Evidence: Staff #3 (start date 5/26/16) and Staff #6 (start date 3/13/17) had not completed Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff.

Plan of Correction: Area Manager will have a discussion with both staff members and they will have until the summer to complete the training.

Standard #: VENDSUB-000-012-E
Description: Based on record review, in two of seven staff records reviewed, the vendor did not ensure that all staff providing care to children shall have within 30 days of the date of employment or 90 days from subsidy vendor approval: Current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) appropriate to the age of children in care. The training shall include an in-person competency demonstration; and Current certification in first aid. Evidence: Staff #2 (start date 5/17/17) and Staff #3 (start date 5/26/16) had not completed training in first aid and CPR.

Plan of Correction: Area Manager will have a discussion with the staff about taking the training.
