Standard #: 22VAC40-185-240-D-4 Complaint related: Yes Description: Based on record review and staff confirmation, it was found today that there has been a child in care receiving diabetes medication and treatment but that child has not always been in the care of a staff member or independent contractor who meets the state requirements for specialized diabetes medication administration and treatment. Evidence: Child # 1, diagnosed with juvenile diabetes since before beginning care on 2/21/17, was with staff who did not obtain the state -mandated training for diabetes as required. The requirements include that the child always be in the care of a staff member who has completed the state training. One staff, Staff # 2 took the training May 3, 2017. The center is unable to ensure that Child # 1 is always in the care of that staff member. Plan of Correction: Not available online. Contact Inspector for more information.
