- Technical Assistance:
Labeling infant bottles was discussed with the infant caregivers and the program director, as the labels currently in use come off whenever the bottle is placed into water.
An unannounced, mandated monitoring inspection was conducted today. The inspector arrived at 2:30 PM and departed at 5:00 PM. Afternoon activities, snack service and bus transition were observed. A sample size of nine staff records and five children's records were reviewed. It was reported that there is currently no medication for administration to children in care. No children's injuries were reported yet this season. An exit meeting was conducted with the program director prior to closure of the inspection. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Based upon observation, the facility has not ensured that areas are maintained to be safe. Evidence: There is a small patch of poison ivy growing along the playground fence behind the castle climbing structure. Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following: The maintenance person has been alerted to remove the poison ivy.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based upon observation, the facility has not ensured that hazardous substances are kept in locked places using safe locking methods that prevent access by the children. Evidence: The door to the back storage closet was open. There were five gallon containers of bleach, labeled "caution, keep out of reach of children" on the floor of the closet. Children from the toddler classroom and the young preschool classroom were walked past this open closet when walking to the bus for the afternoon bus run. Plan of Correction: The facility responded with the following: Instruct staff who unlock the closet to get supplies, to close and re-lock the closet immediately after leaving the closet.
