Technical Assistance:
Consultation: Best practice for walking field trips is considered to be taking name-to-face attendance when arriving at the destination and back at the center instead of counting heads. Injury prevention plan is to be updated based on regular review of incident/injury reports to determine potential patterns of injuries regarding time of day , equipment involved, etc.

Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection took place today from 10:45 am - 12:30 pm. There were 38 children present with 6 direct staff. I observed children at play in a local park in the morning; walking back to the center; washing up afterwards; watching a video; setting the table for lunch; eating and preparing for naptime. I also observed children coloring with colored pencils; and engaged in dramatic play; cars and block play. If you have any questions, please contact me at brenda.kuhlman@dss.virginia.gov

In addition, the online compliance history includes information regarding adverse actions that may be the subject of a pending appeal.
