An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today July 26, 2017 to determine compliance with licensing standards. The inspector initiated the inspection at 1:30 pm and concluded the inspection at 3:20 pm. The Director participated in the inspection. Upon the inspectors arrival the majority of children were napping. The two school age groups were returning from a swimming field trip and were preparing for lunch. Infants were observed playing with musical instruments, soft toys and in bouncers. Staff sat on the floor with infants and interacted in a positive manner. Later The preschool children and toddler classrooms were observed preparing for snack. Children listened to a story and sang a song for the inspector . Children had snack which was served family style. children worked on using tongs to pick up the apple slices. The four year old class celebrated birthdays for two children today adding a special snack to the scheduled snack. Hand washing was conducted. School age children played in centers (writing, coloring, lego, action figures) and worked in their Summer Link activity books (math concepts). The school age group was also having a lego competition later today. All areas of the facility were inspected to include classrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and outdoor playground areas. The rear playground is not in use until additional mulch is installed. The facility has an art show scheduled for parents. Children's artwork was on display. Classrooms have age and stage appropriate materials and supplies. The facility had the following required information posted: the License, last inspection notice, emergency numbers, evacuation maps/procedures, daily schedules, menu and various parent information. The first aid kit and non-medical emergency supplies were checked and found complete. The inspector interacted with staff and children in care. Five staff records and six children records were reviewed. Medications and medication authorizations were reviewed. Staff on site with MAT certification. Staff have current CPR & First aid training along with daily health observation training. The most recent evacuation drill was documented on 07/12/2017. The two required shelter-in-place drills were completed on 06/28/2017 and 07/12/2017. Fire Inspection: 05/01/2017 Health Inspection: 04/24/2017 Today's Ratios Observed: Infants: 12 infants with 3 staff Toddlers: 10 children with 2 staff Two's: 15 children with 2 staff Three's: 10 children with 1 staff Fours: 18 children with 2 staff School age: (young) 18 children with 2 staff School age: (older) 16 children with 2 staff Today's lunch consisted of turkey & cheese wraps, pasta salad, mixed berries and milk.
