An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted with new site director and center staff. There were 57 children present during today's inspection, ranging in age from 5 months to 12 years. The children were having rest time, afternoon snack, and free play activities, including sand art and outdoor play. Snack served today: vanilla pudding and bananas. Non compliances in files from last inspection have been corrected. Seven emergency medications for five children were reviewed and are in compliance. The fire inspection was conducted 5/15/2017 and 5/22/2017. The last health inspection was conducted 6/26/2017. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-270-A Description: Repeat violation: Based on observation, the facility failed to maintain all areas in a clean,safe, and operable condition. Evidence: there was visible trash and used water cups on the older children playground. Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection: Children had just exited the playground. Center staff was asked to go back outside and picked up trash and discarded in the trash can.
Standard #: 22VAC40-185-280-B Description: Based on observation, the facility failed to keep all hazardous substances in a locked place, preventing access by children. Evidence: in the infant room, a bottle of Goo Gone was unlocked on an upper shelf. In the twos room, a spray bottle of sanitizer and an air freshener were unlocked on the diapering counter. Plan of Correction: Corrected during inspection: Center director moved the hazardous substances from the high shelf out of reach of children to a locked cabinet to comply with standards.
